As a design for a tattoo parlour based in Toyko, the idea of Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) has been drawn upon to create a front for a meeting place. Typically Yakuza headquarters are based in nightclubs, but as tattoo are such a prominent part of the Yakuza culture, I combine the meeting space and a modern tattoo parlour. The Yakuza favour the retro style of the 1950s American Gangsters, so this has acted as a strong influence mixed with a sense of traditional Japanese style.
